Be able to be alone. Lose not the advantage of solitude, and the society of thyself. -- Thomas Browne --

So true!!
Even though I am happily married, and am a very social butterfly, I MUST have my alone time. Without it, I would go MAD, I tell you, simply MAD.
I cannot wait to move to our house. More space!! More alone time!! Of course, this works in his favour, too, though why anyone would want to be far away from me, is puzzling.
It may be a bit of an exaggeration but I believe it was Pascal who said "all the unhappiness of men arises from one fact, that they cannot stay quietly in their own chamber."
All the best to you with your move. Congratulations on getting a house. Does your move mean that you will no longer reside in that neighborhood that you have grown to love so much?
Sadly, yes, we will have to move out of 'The Valley' where we have lived for almost 13 years. Heartbreaking. But the prices of the houses were waaaaaay out of our range. Location, location, location! Thankfully our house is just a 10 minute walk or so from The Valley, so I can still go for walks in the park by the Humber River, and visit neighbours. It's so funny how by just going a little north ('the other side of the tracks' -- literarlly!), the house prices dropped dramatically. We have a house that is bigger than the many semi-detached homes in The Valley, and we are paying at least $60,000 less than what we would pay if we tried to stay here (which was just not a viable option!)
Thankfully I am still very close to my beloved 'Bloor West Village', so I will continue to write about my adventures there!
