Sleep Peacefully, Mom

For me and my family it has not been a Happy New Year.
Late last night, just a few hours into the new year, my brother called to tell me that my dear mother passed away after a lengthy illness. All of my siblings were with her, around her bed at the hospital. I was the only one that could not be there at the time.
Dear Mom, bless her soul. She was 76 years old and I already miss her very much.
Just hopping aboard a plane in minutes to be with my family.
So I just thought I would drop by here at The Puddle and let my friends know that I probably will not be around for the next little while.

Wishing you all a happy Happy New Year 2009!
Cip.
Sleep peacefully Mom!

You were there with her - children are always there in their mothers' hearts.
Take care - I'll be thinking of both you and your family.

So very sorry to hear this news! You are deep in my thoughts tonight my friend. I hope you can feel these friends caring through their thoughtful messages. As a lover of poetry, I leave you with this:

In Memory Of My Mother

I do not think of you lying in the wet clay
Of a Monaghan graveyard; I see
You walking down a lane among the poplars
On your way to the station, or happily

Going to second Mass on a summer Sunday -
You meet me and you say:
'Don't forget to see about the cattle - '
Among your earthiest words the angels stray.

And I think of you walking along a headland
Of green oats in June,
So full of repose, so rich with life -
And I see us meeting at the end of a town

On a fair day by accident, after
The bargains are all made and we can walk
Together through the shops and stalls and markets
Free in the oriental streets of thought.

O you are not lying in the wet clay,
For it is a harvest evening now and we
Are piling up the ricks against the moonlight
And you smile up at us - eternally.

Patrick Kavanagh

Kindest regards and sympathy to you and yours,
Lorin

Oh dear, Cippy, I'm so very sorry about the loss of your dear Mom. And I'm sorry I got this news late – I've been away from the computer for pretty much all of the holiday break. You're in my thoughts, sweetie.

I was hoping that her strong will would make her gain many more years of life. She must have been a wonderful mom and I am very sad that she had to go.
