Can Someone 'Splain This?

Can someone please explain to me how it is that I can be sitting here in a Bookstore right now and look to the left and right of me.... well, not quite -- to the left and then sort of MORE to the left and see display after display of Stieg Larsson things?
Is this the new J.K. Rowling of adult fiction?
Wow!
Sadly, this author is deceased since 2004, but nonetheless raising quite a posthumous kafuffle among bookreaders. According to an article I happened across, moments ago -- his "Millennium" trilogy of books:
The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo..... are respectively # 1, 2 and 3 on the Amazon.ca Bestsellers List for the week ending July 13th. [a Tuesday? Go figure!]
Anyhoo -- it's got me scratching my head. Has anyone read these books?
On a side note, it all bodes well for a novel I myself have been writing for upwards of a decade now
--> The Girl Who Would Never Go Out with Me.

Love the title of your book! But the other 3 you mentioned are really good! :--) The whole reason is the character of Lisbeth - the girl with the dragon tattoo - everyone falls in love with her!

Like you, Cip, I see these books everywhere but have not bothered to even pick one up yet...too much hype usually affects me that way. I even turned down a Review Copy of one of the three but can't remember which it was.

I've read and enjoyed all 3, though perhaps the first one least of all (the violence is a bit over-the-top), but Lisbeth! she kicks ass! I'd started the series due the hype surrounding the French publication, which was a little ahead of the hype in the rest of Canada. The characters also spend a lot of time fixing coffee and sandwiches.

Thank you all for telling me more about this Larrson stuff.
I am completely Larsson-ignorant!
But the books are everywhere.
And this Lisbeth character seems to be a real hit, huh?

Well for what it's worth, I've read 'em and even with the hype: they are that good. Really. I promise.

And I'll even add your title to my collection. :)
