Irving is an amazing novelist. I love really long books that cover a lifetime and Irving is particularly good at that - and creating unforgettable characters. I will be distributing 20 copies of his Owen Meaney book on World Book Night (April 23), in fact.
I loved both A Prayer for Owen Meany and The Cider House Rules. I loved Garp too but was a teenager when I read it so don't remember it at all, unfortunately.
Sam and Amy -- I'm a real fan of Irving's work, and Owen Meany is my favorite I've read so far.
"C" -- you've mentioned this before, this Water Method Man book. I'll have to watch for it in my travels. Better than Owen Meany? Hey, that's gotta be real good!

You need to read The Water Method Man. It's even better then Owen Meany.

I think I have The Water Method Man on my shelf, unread. If so, I'll look and move it to my TBR.
