My First Trifecta Word-Challenge

I am always up for any sort of Word Challenge thingy and a commenter on my Saturday Snapshot posting [yesterday] alerted me to a word-challenge called Trifecta.
The commenter was one Libby Rodriguez.
Here's how this works.
The fine folks at Trifecta give you the beginning of an extremely brief short story [33 words] and you have to finish it in a mere 33 words. That's all you are allowed is 33 words. Then a winner is chosen by process of election -- umm, so if you think my 33 words are worthy of your vote, please follow the link provided and vote for me.
That would be so crazy if I won, because I don't even know what I'm doing here.
So, what follows is the prompting from Trifecta in bold print, followed by my 33-word conclusion, given in italics.

“There’s nothing cute about it,” he said. The register of his voice indicated decision more so than discussion.
She disagreed heartily and privately, staring past his head and out the window behind him.

Handing her the mirror he shook his shorn locks to the floor, throwing the towel in her face.
Only then did she admit the truth.
It was indeed, the worst haircut in history.

*****
You [my dear readers] then go to Trifecta [<-- click on that link] scroll down to the links section on that page, read all the other submissions, realize that mine is the best one, and vote for me after 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time today [Sunday, the 25th].
And may the best submitter named Cipriano win!

I tried to vote for you but the link kept bringing me back to this post.

Such a creative leap – well done!

Some very interesting entries. When I vote tonight (I have a post-it to remind me…) I will definitely be voting for the best one – which just happens to be yours. :)

Oh yeah. And you can sometimes feel those cuts coming on while you sit!!

The weekday prompts are even more fun. They give us a word, we have to use the 3rd definition of said word for a story between 33 and 333 words long. Fun fun fun.

To the commenter above, the voting starts tonight at about 8 or so eastern .After the challenge closes. :)

Sigh. And your captcha text is treating me most poorly. You might want to turn it off for trifecta challenges, as it isn't polite at all to non blogger account commenters.

This was fun. :-) A bad haircut is never cute.

Happy weekend.

MOV: Nice to meet you, thank you for dropping by.

Bermuduonion: The voting opens only during a twelve hour window, beginning at 8 p.m. tonight Eastern Standard Time.

Beth: There are some terrific ones in there, you are right. I wonder if people will be able to recognize that I was joking when I was saying mine was definitely the best. Even though I sort of think it actually is. [Am I schizophrenic?]

Jester Queen: Done deal. I turned off the comment watchamacallit dealie Homeland Security thing.
I have had some doozy bad haircuts in my day. This inspired my 33 words, for sure.

Imelda: Thank you for dropping on by, May all of your haircuts be awesome!

I can still remember crying in the chair for the worst haircut I ever received. Since that time, I have a regular person (who rocks), probably pay a little too much and have been happy ever since.

Nice interpretation.

This is really good!!! Btw, thanks for the plug in your intro. :). This reminds me of when I cut my ex-husband's hair; it was so bad and I added insult to injury by laughing! Again, great entry!

Welcome to the party! And a great entry - loved the punchline.

Oh no. And she's to blame. I feel worse for her than him. I get the feeling she tried her best.

Seriously, hair is hard to cut. That's in her defense. But ending up with a bad haircut... I'm not sure which is worse! Welcome to Trifecta!

Thank you all, dear readers. New friends.
Trifecters.
This is fun!
I find myself wishing that my inaugural visit here was one of the times when the thing is judged by the editors, because I have not enlisted any friends to vote for me or any such thing -- greenhorn that I am!
But, at any rate, the important thing is WRITING IS FUN!
I look forward to seeing the results, and playing again!

Welcome to Trifecta!

The worst haircut I ever had was when I was 12, but I blame my mom, not the hairstylist (long story). Not fun! (but your 33-word entry was :))

Original and unexpected! Nicely done. Hope you become a regular 'round Trifecta.

Ha ha! I have had my hairdresser for longer than I've had my husband and we're coming on 20 years! Every once in a while I get a cut I don't quite understand, but they all grow on me eventually.

This entry is very much in line with the concept, and very well executed. Hope you can play during the week too!

Thanks so much for linking up to Trifextra. Remember, this weekend’s entries are being judged by the Trifecta community, so I hope you were able to cast your votes. Winners will be announced with the Monday post. Hope to see you back then.

Congrats on getting 2nd!

Cipriano said...

Thank you Libby and Stefanie for notifying me that I got second place in the Trifecta Challenge.
So I linked back to the site to see for myself and had a good laugh.
Apparently...... I'm a girl!
Did you catch that? "In second place was Bookpuddle and her story of a terrible haircut. It brought back many bad memories for at least one Trifecta editor."
That is hilarious.
I'm going to shave my legs tonight!

Cipriano said...

P.S. re: my former comment -- the folks at Trifecta fixed the gender-related error.
[But I shaved my legs anyway, they were getting a bit... unruly].
Let's do this again sometime.
Cheers, all!
