Splash du Jour: Thursday

Now, as I before hinted, I have no objection to any person's religion, be it what it may, so long as that person does not kill or insult any other person, because that other person don't believe it also. But when a man's religion becomes really fanatic; when it is a positive torment to him; and, in fine, makes this earth of ours an uncomfortable inn to lodge in; then I think it high time to take that individual aside and argue the point with him.
-- Herman Melville, Moby Dick --

Have a great Thursday!

There's no arguing with fanatics of any kind, be it religious or otherwise, but I suppose we should never give up.

Wonderful. You're making the endless chore of reading Moby Dick sound kind of... tempting!

Sounds like you're enjoying Moby-Dick as much as I am. If you're reading it on your own, you're probably going at a quicker pace than me. The Big Read folks have released through Chapter 40 as of today, but I just finished Chapter 28 - where Ahab is finally sighted by Ishmael for the first time. I think The Whale finally shows up around chapter 40.

The book is a lot more political and philosophical than I expected it to be...and much funnier. Love your quotes.

Thank you, Sim. I'm really enjoying this book!
Agreed, "C" -- I always do like to make my two-cents known, even in the face of abject ignorance.
Melwyk, I do encourage you to pick it up one day. I've had my own copy for years before diving into it. The thing is a gem.
Sam -- I look forward to catching up on the comments at your site over the weekend. I'm at Chapter 65 at the present moment.
