"Better to be at the bottom of a ladder you want to climb than in the middle of some ladder you don't, right? Some shitty-ass ladder made of shit?" -- Dave Eggers, The Circle --
I like Dave Eggers a whole lot. Great writer and great human being.
I remember spotting what looked like an advance reader copy of "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" at Second Story Books in Bethesda, Maryland. I asked why the price was so high and was fascinated by the story. I did not buy that copy, but read the memoir I did, later on.

Come to think of it, it was a bookstore on Georgetown Road, sadly gone (one of the few independent bookstores in Washington, DC).
(I went to look at the books on my shelf, if by some miracle I did buy that particular edition. Sadly, not!)
I want to read this one as well - I received a copy recently.
Happy New Year to You and Yours.
