Splash du Jour: Tuesday

Maybe it's the sense of impending snow, lately, but I've been listening to this song quite a bit...

As I sit and watch the snow
Fallin’ down
I don’t miss you at all
I hear the children playin’ laughin’ so loud
I don’t think of your smile

So if you never come to me
You’ll stay a distant memory
Out my window I see lights going dark
Your dark eyes don’t haunt me

And then I wonder who I am
Without the warm touch of your hand

And then I wonder who I am
Without the warm touch of your hand
As I sit and watch the snow
Fallin’ down

I don’t miss you at all
I don’t miss you at all
I don’t miss you at all

-- lyrics by Norah Jones

Have a great Tuesday!

  1. My god, I keep forgetting how breath-takingly beautiful Norah Jones is. Wow.

    Lovely words.

You know what winter song really puts me in the mood for snow and all that stuff? 'I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm'. Do you know that one? It's an oldie, but definitely a goodie.

    Can't wait for the snow!!!

  3. Oh I agree Patricia, Norah is absolutely beautiful and extremely talented.
I get positively submerged in her hot-chocolatey voice.

    I adorah norah.

And strangely enough, I posted that du jour before the first flakes flew, but yep, today is the first day of official snow! Winter has arrived.
    You can't wait for it?
    Hmmm... an interesting perspective.
Actually I love some things about it too, and when it comes right down to it, Christmas is probably my favorite time of the year, for sure.

I do not know the song you refer to, but the title sounds nice and toasty.
    Cheers!

  4. It's an Irving Berlin song. Many people have sung it over the years, including Billie Holiday. If you can, try and get a copy of it. It's just so warm and delightful; very Christmas-y. Here's the lyrics:

The snow is snowing and the wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
For I've got my love to keep me warm
    I can't remember a worse December
    Just watch those icicles form!
Oh, what do I care if icicles form?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
The snow is snowing, the wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
    I can't remember a worse December
    Just watch those icicles form!
What do I care if icicles form?
Oh-ho-ho, I've got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
