Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not expressed in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man.
-- Shakespeare, Hamlet --
Have a great Thursday!
So while you're on your vacation, think about your homie missing you and maybe this will convince you to get the hell out here for a visit.
ReplyDeleteYes, the apparel, the apparel. Branagh's apparel...that's what is (rather loudly) proclaiming the man to me in this photo.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a brilliant scene...that "To be or not to be" in the two-way Hall of Mirrors...with old Polonius and Claudius standing right behind him? Minimalist. Every move an art form. . . "rich, not gaudy."
Why don't you do a Branagh Photo Du Jour week, cipriano?
You know you want to.
Thank you for the well-wishes. The weather could not be more resplendently beautiful, here on Vancouver Island.
ReplyDeleteI just love the Hamlet movie, the one with Branagh, as shown here. First of all, honestly, his acting levels me. Secondly, the movie follows the text WORD-FOR-WORD! It is just such an unbelievably well-done version. I really must get the thing, on DVD.
Yes, maybe I will do a Ken Branagh montage week or something, sometime. He's been in a lot of great movies, and I think he was nothing less than a brilliant Iago in the most recent [late 90's] version of Othello.
The best to you all!
