Amory is a personal hero of mine. In addition to his series of books on his cat Polar Bear, he was active in humane organizations for animals. His love affair with cats came about rather unexpectedly for him (a dog lover) when Polar Bear descended upon him rag tag and homeless. Amory, a wonderful writer, tells about it in a hilarious, yet compassionate, narrative.
