Bible Thumper: A Saturday Snapshot

Here's me, circa 1991.
SERIOUS Bible-thumper days!

I was just graduating from Bible College -- four years, full-time, studying The Word of The [only] God.
This was taken in some hotel room in Toronto, on my way to Graduation ceremonies, where I was chosen in a highly selective process to be the soloist fronting a 500-voice choir.
At times, I do miss being Lead Cherubim©.
Singing is my primary gifting, just before... Blogging [see 1 Corinthians ch.12].
I am very much a different person today.
At times, I do miss my idealistic days of Intense Believerism [in this shot, I was quoting some uplifting passage from The Book of Lamentations…] but overall, I am now quite happy and content in my ongoing re-connection to my actual brain.
I think the overall message of this picture is something along the lines of:
"In the latter days, people will be convinced that they have a mustache when, in reality, they just need a shave!"

Thank you Alyce, for hosting this terrific Saturday Snapshot meme @ At Home With Books.

It's intriguing to look back at our past selves. I think you were very brave to post such an old photo, mo and all.

Ha-ha...like the quote. Looking back is sometimes very intriguing. I am astonished at some of my previous incarnations.

Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST

This picture is frightening on many levels. Thanks for giving us a glimpse at your past self -- I for one would love to hear more bible stories from you.

Serious times as a Bible thumper – but you still have that twinkle in your eyes!

Haha! Looking back at our younger and more ideal selves is always a trip ... some of us are still as idealistic as we ever were ... how timely a post!

I have recently been looking through old photos with my MIL. WOW, it is eye-opening. For me, no mustache, but the big glasses I wore definitely cause a giggle.

Ah youth and idealism! :)

I love seeing pictures from our pasts like this one from your bible-thumping days. I gather you have mellowed and perhaps become less evangelical but not less spiritual. And you are certainly just as passionate (in your blog anyway) as you appear to be here.
And singing? I would love to hear that.

I do so envy people who can sing. I apparently have no talent in that direction - when I sing in public people look at me curiously as if wondering if I'm putting them on. sigh.

It can definitely be uncomfortable to took at what we were like in our past, but I guess that's part of how we grow. :) Thanks for sharing!

Wow ... thanks for the look into the past. :) I enjoy looking at old photos. I think most of us have evolved into quite different people than we were years ago, or ever expected to be.

I definitely hung around with people like you during part of my college days. I'll have to admit, the part when I didn't hang around with Bible thumpers was more fun. Here's Mine

Goodness, you must have been so confident and had such belief in yourself, as well as in what you were doing. No Snapshot from me this week, but I'm enjoying looking at everyone else's.

Heh, nice mustache. I must say the look in your eye has sort of an evil glint to it, intimations of things to come? ;)

I just saw the comment you left on my Saturday Snapshot and it cracked me up. My photo was of my son and his friend at homecoming with the line of girls behind them. Polygamous dating, hilarious.

It's not the Bible that scares me – it's that moustache!!
